Throwback Thursday: My Shame

I found these pins when I was helping Little Man clean his room earlier this week:

For some reason unknown to me now, I gave these to him some time ago while cleaning out some old crap. I couldn’t help but cringe. I made these for myself when I was 14. Crushes or obsessions, I dunno. But they certainly made Sam tease me like hell (or the fire place).

What’s one of the most embarrassing things you did as a kid? Please top this. πŸ˜„

  1. Made a mixed tape of sappy songs and gave it to the guy who had just broken up with me to let him know how I felt. I wrapped it up in the piece of paper I had written a corny poem to him on. To this day he probably still cringes if he hears any of the songs that were on there. Thank God I forgot what they were.

  2. Did you ever listen to Delilah on the radio? I swear, that woman is ageless. She allows people to call in on her nightly broadcast and request a song for someone you love. She played some of the best love songs I’ve ever heard. I decided to call in one night for a crush that I had when I was like 10. She wouldn’t pay me any attention and I thought this might get it. Delilah never picked up the phone 😦

  3. I can’t believe you’re embarrassed about crushes and pins. Silly girl. I was just thinking about the time when I had a monthly accident and no one told me… I was in the gym, wearing bright yellow shorts, and didn’t notice the dark red stain until I got home. If I remember correctly, I never went back to that gym.

    I win! πŸ™‚

    • Admittedly the pins weren’t as bad as the Hanson wallpaper πŸ˜„πŸ˜‰ omg that’s awful! Had a teacher in middle school who was wearing an all white outfit and got her period. We were all nervous as hell and I was elected to be the one to tell her. Her face, though, poor woman!

  4. My sisters were big fans of New Kids on the Block and had all of the essential fan crap back in their day. At some point in the mid 90’s, I took one of their old NKOTB posters they were now ashamed of and tacked it up behind the guinea pig cage as a background. It stayed there for most of its 6 year life. Poor guinea pig…

  5. Menudo.
Fluorescent fingerless gloves and a lace hair bow.
    Wham!

It’s even funnier that I dropped those things for Journey, Duran Duran, sneering at how stupid I’d been. And THEN I scorned those and liked or pretended to like Def Leppard and Stryper. And THEN I was too cool for school when I liked Metallica and Anthrax.

Now I’m into Barry Manilow. What.
