The Happiness Tag

This must be a fairly new blog tag/challenge as I haven’t seen it going around much yet. (Or maybe I’m just not reading enough.) At any rate, Eric from All In A Dad’s Work included me in his list of bloggers to do this challenge, so here goes…

Here are the rules for the happiness tag.

List:

  • Five things that make you happy.
  • Five songs that make you happy.
  • Five bloggers that make you happy and notify them of the nomination.

Five things that make me happy:

  1. Hearing the kids squeal with laughter while playing together.
  2. A clean, organized house. I’ve read that this can increase your mood, and I absolutely believe it.
  3. My friends. There’s always lots of laughter when we hang out.
  4. Long drives by myself. It’s nice to be alone with my thoughts and/or let loose singing.
  5. Rum drinks by the pool/ocean/after a long day with the kids…

Five songs that make me happy:

  1. Chris Brown – Forever. Yes, I know this guy is a douche bag, among other things. I still can’t help but love this song. The first time I heard it was watching The Office in the wedding episode. Y’all know how much we love that show in this house, so between seeing our favorite characters get married, the hilarity of the dancing to the song, and between Little Man thinking that dancing to this song is part of a traditional wedding service, there’s lot of happiness.
  2. Psy – Gangnam Style. Little Man dances like a crazy man to this song, which makes everyone laugh, especially Baby Girl. When it first came out when he was 4, I had it playing when he came streaking through the living room after his bath, and he stopped dead in his tracks to copy the dance motions stark naked.
  3. Pharrell Williams – Happy. This is another one we all like to dance to. Plus, it’s called Happy, so clearly it deserves a spot on the list of songs that make me happy.
  4. Ruth B – Lost Boy. I heard this one the radio recently and love it. A piano ballad + lyrics about one of my favorite characters is something I love.
  5. Hanson – Crazy Beautiful. Obviously I’m going to include a Hanson song, and this is one that always makes me smile. Aside from the lyrics and high energy of the song, it was the song that helped me sell Sam on my fav band, which makes it double awesome.

Five [of the many] bloggers that make me happy:

  1. Confessions
  2. Writer In Soul
  3. Delightfully Unexpected
  4. SassaFrass, the Feisty
  5. Bloggity Ramblings

  1. Aaaah! Gangnam Style! Li’l D and I just came from a movie, so that having that movie feeling about me reminds me of the end of The Nut Job. I watched a first morning showing of it in the theater, which meant it was all kids, parents, and grandparents. This, in turn, meant that the kids had an impromptu dance party in the theater. It was FANTASTIC.

  2. Awesome happy post! Bang loves to dance stark naked, too. Actually, he just loves being naked. Gangnum Style is a fun one to dance to. I’m more of a vodka or tequilla moreso than rum… but I’m with ya! Yay alcohol!

  3. Lovely share my friend! I can’t help but dance to Happy every time I hear it. How can one not??

And alone in the car for you is like my walks in the early morning. Alone with my thoughts. It’s pretty awesome.

  4. Yay, you like Gangham Style too! I thought I was the only one with that guilty pleasure. I still like to play it. Driving alone is fun too, though my children have learned that it is Mom’s car, and she can sing if she wants to – also she can play the same song multiple times because they do have legs.

If you want some real crazy, I’m responding to some on my blog. I have a commenter who decided my grammar needed to be corrected on a booger post. You can’t make this stuff up!

Oh yeah, I love the Happy song too. Also that song about “Cake by the Ocean” by that Jonas brother. It has a nice beat. I will bear the shame of loving a Jonas brother.

  5. I love a clean organised house. Feels so good.
Also, that 5 whole minutes on a Sunday when the washing basket/ironing basket is empty and the school uniforms are done. Ahhh.

    • Ahh yes, too bad it doesn’t last longer. I read online that there is a dryer coming out that is supposed to fold clothes for you that will be priced not much more than a regular dryer.

      • Our dryers here in the UK, are awful. We have tiny kitchens and don’t have utility rooms (Unless you’re super rich and you’ve built a brand new house or bought one) so we use combination washer/dryers as theres no space for a separate dryer. Our houses are old. So, if a dryer did anything other than screw up my laundry rendering it unwearable and impossible to iron, I would be VERY surprised. Hahaha.
